Synopsis

Persepolis tells the story of the Iranian Islamic Revolution as seen through the eyes of a young girl who watches in awe as her country and family undergo profound changes, all while she learns to wear the veil. Combining humor, irony, drama, and social commentary, the film portrays the complexities of life under an oppressive regime and the search for identity of a woman torn between two cultures.

Persepolis is a book that invites reflection on the political and social situation in the Middle East, but also on the universal themes of freedom, tolerance, love, and hope.
