Synopsis
Florence, 16th century. Lucrezia, the third daughter of Grand Duke Cosimo de’ Medici, is a quiet and observant girl, talented at drawing, who lives peacefully in the shadow of the palazzo.
But when her sister Maria dies, just before she is to marry Alfonso d’Este, the eldest son of the Duke of Ferrara, she unexpectedly becomes the center of attention: at only fifteen years old, she must take her place and move to a hostile court.
Her husband, twelve years her senior, is enigmatic: is he really the sensitive and understanding man he seemed to her at first, or a ruthless despot whom everyone fears?
