Synopsis
In March 1948, Fintan Allen, who is barely twelve years old, fearfully boards a ship bound for Onitsha with his Italian mother, Maou.
There they are met by Geoffroy Allen, an Englishman who works for the trading company UnitedAfrica and who left for Onitsha driven by his fanciful desires to travel through Egypt and Sudan to look for traces of Meroe, the “last kingdom of the Nile”.
While Maou believes that the reunion with her husband will be the beginning of a happy time, Fintan distrusts this stranger who is her father and what awaits her on that remote continent.
