There are experiences that time deepens rather than erases. Seven novels from seven different countries explore this dimension of time that returns: childhood that continues to inhabit the adult body, family crimes that resurface after decades, dreams that traverse other eras, and cities that accumulate within their walls all that their inhabitants wished to forget.

This series brings together some of the most important voices in contemporary world narrative to explore a question that literature knows how to formulate better than any other form of thought: What do we do with what we cannot leave behind?
