News ABOUT US

On March 12, 2021, MARCO reopened its doors with the exhibition The Poetics of the Return of Mario García Torres, in which, through more than thirty works, 20 years of the Mexican artist's career are covered in a wide variety of disciplines: painting, video, installation, sound and performance. The exhibition, carried out under the curatorship of Taiyana Pimentel, has been possible thanks to the EFIARTES (benefit granted for the creation and production of visual, theatrical, and literary arts), and is exhibited in rooms 1-5 on the ground floor of the Museum FRAME.

The Poetics of Return establishes a parallel between the post-conceptual and immersive practices in historical construction for which García Torres has been known, and presents 6 works created specifically for the exhibition at MARCO: This sculpture, Ruining Paintings, a series of paintings where "spoilers" are made about the end of certain movies; Xoco is bored, The world is not the same since you left, Nine questions for any storm (We Shall Not Name This Feeling) in collaboration with Sol Oosel and finally Secte, a typographic project in collaboration with Aldo Arillo through which it is sought create an inclusive language.

The work Nine questions for any storm (We Shall Not Name This Feeling) in collaboration with Sol Oosel is a performance conference in which various theatrical resources are used (song, music, dance, spoken word) to create a theater hybrid poor, art performance and pop concert. The conference will be given on May 27, 28 and 29, 2021 at 8:00 pm.

The namesake convention is undoubtedly one of the proposals that most stimulates public participation, since it is a call to bring together all people, both in Mexico and abroad, who share the name Mario García. To participate it is necessary to register before August 1 with a copy of your identification in the email info@marco.org.mx.

Likewise, an educational program has been created around The Poetics of Return, which includes virtual activities in public programs with a view to creating the first virtual educational gallery on the website; a program of virtual guided tours for students, Art Seminar for All: Conceptual and Post Conceptual; Diploma for teachers: artists you should know, and finally the Cycle of cinema and Cycle of talks on contemporary music.

The Poetics of Return is the opportunity to learn about the trajectory of a Mexican artist who has managed to position himself as one of the most notable figures in contemporary art at an international level.
