Registro 05 / Focusing the Gaze is the fourth edition of the Registros series, initiated at the Museo de Arte Contemporáneo de Monterrey a decade ago. This edition turns its attention to the metropolitan area of Nuevo León’s capital and its prolific art scene. It gains significance by reviewing what a dozen contemporary artists are producing today, offering a kind of diagnosis that simultaneously unites and differentiates them from the six artists who participated in the first edition.

Some of the issues explored by the artists include the construction of identities within media culture, the sociopolitical reality of the country, and the questioning of sensory perception in contrast with the virtual world generated by internet databases.
