MARCO presents After the Landscape: Abstractions in the MACG Collection, an exhibition organized by the Museo de Arte Carrillo Gil that brings together the work of artists Gunther Gerzso, Wolfgang Paalen, Luis Nishizawa, Kishio Murata, and Mathias Goeritz, who explored landscape as a medium for abstraction. The temporal coincidence and aesthetic motifs serve as the conceptual axis of this exhibition.

The importance of the MACG collection lies not only in the artists represented but also in the fact that it has been preserved as a single cohesive collection since its formation. Dr. Carrillo Gil was particularly careful to ensure it was not fragmented, which is why the pieces that belonged to him are preserved, along with acquisitions made after the institution was officially established.
