EXPOSURE ASSESSMENT
suspended time
Bill Viola
November 17 to April 2023
The Monterrey Museum of Contemporary Art (MARCO) presents Bill Viola. Suspended time, the largest exhibition in Mexico dedicated to one of the great pioneers of video art.
With a career spanning almost five decades, the artist explores existential issues about the human being from a perspective fueled by philosophy and spirituality.
Bill Viola. Suspended Time takes as its conceptual axis the idea of the temporality of the human condition expressed through the body and its gestures. The selected works refer to a sacred or suspended time, where the human body is a sign that reveals the transience of existence and the desire to dilate the impermanent, offering the public a reflective experience of dissolution, purification and rebirth.
The exhibition was produced by the Ex Teresa Arte Actual Museum and is the result of collaboration between companies and institutions such as Altex, Panasonic, Medusa Lab, Fundación Telefónica Movistar, INBA and the federal Ministry of Culture. It has financing from the EFIARTES program, from the Ministry of Finance and Public Credit.
