Drawing on popular archives, Renata Petersen recontextualizes religious icons and doctrines from 20th- and 21st-century cults within a single plane. Evoking a temple and reinterpreting Giotto di Bondone’s Scrovegni Chapel, her representations combine sensationalist overtones and contemporary symbols with New Age iconography. Petersen’s mural unfolds within Espacio Uno, creating an immersive experience that emphasizes the spatiality of the Legorreta-style chapel while questioning the symbols that construct and sustain the patriarchy.
