MARCO: BEYOND THE SHAPES
For Legorreta, MARCO's architectural value goes far beyond the shapes by presenting an approach that might seem to run counter to today's museum trends. The building of his creation suits not only the urban site and Monterrey, but the Mexican people as a whole, by displaying art in a much more natural and less artificial setting than in other parts of the world.

Artwork is showcased by a careful, balanced arrangement of natural and artificial light, so that a visit to this museum is nothing like touring a laboratory that contains works of art, but a visit to a series of architectural spaces and elements that are, in themselves, works of art.

MARCO is housed in a 172,000 sq. ft. building, of which 53,800 is exhibition space divided into 11 halls; the rest is occupied by spaces such as the Central Patio with its breathtaking water mirror, Auditorium, Museum Store, Restaurant, and Sculpture Court .
