Born in Barcelona on January 19, 1919, Brossa is considered one of the most important Catalan poets. He produced took an interest in Dadaism and Surrealism, and in his fascination with the written word he began to exploit the conceptual and analytical aspects of art, placing him on a level with his pieces in the performance style pieces are obvious forerunners of happenings of the 1950s and 1960s.

His long artistic career distils the best of Spanish avant-gard influences. Brossa contributes with his original way of conceiving poetry, which includes not only written work but also visual poetry, scenic poetry, poem objects, movie scripts, stage show routines, and other forms, showing us a figure who has broken with the traditional molds of the genre.
