The canvases of María Izquierdo unfold themselves as a world of colorful dreams, a world with which she situated what is Mexican into what is considered universal art that was conceived of by this disciple of the Mexican great masters Rufino Tamayo and Germán Gedovius.

Izquierdo was declared an artistic treasure in 2002 by Mexico 's National Institute of Fine Arts (INBA). She was also the first Mexican woman to exhibit in the United States and is, together with Frida Kahlo and Lola Álvarez Bravo, one of the most prominent women in art on an international level.

The intent of this exhibition is to reveal the contributions of María Izquierdo's new art , exemplified her simple and straightforward approach to art , to Mexican art of the post-revolutionary decades.
