The Museo de Arte Contemporáneo de Monterrey presents Perspectives. Tatiana Bilbao Estudio, an exhibition that reviews the most representative projects at national and international level throughout the career of the Mexican architect Tatiana Bilbao (1972). Her vision seeks to change and strengthen various dialogues between building and environment, materials and processes, as well as functionality and aesthetics, with the aim of erecting constructions submerged in the social and natural environment without disturbing the locality.

This exhibition focuses on the relationship of her work with art, philosophy, design, and sociology.

Throughout the projects produced in the period 2004-2017, you can find structures that simultaneously oppose and are found, and which highlights the collaboration between the worlds of architecture and construction. Her works are integral since they take into account the historical context and ensure the continuation of the urban structure, turning the architecture into an organizational system.

Since the foundation of her study, Tatiana Bilbao has worked, conceptualized and built a large number of projects in which, in various ways, social and spatial experiences are generated. Thus, a critical philosophy and the forms imposed by a productive field have enriched its vision, which has gained a place in contemporary debates and at the same time has responded to the social needs and ethical implications of this time of crisis.

Social awareness and the ability to experiment with urban spaces and building materials are made explicit in the projects presented in this exhibition, which reviews their work and concepts. If a structure involves a series of defined relations, the architecture of Bilbao keeps and favors this type of connections and enriches them through a multidisciplinary field that combines multiple perspectives. Its sensitivity to nature and the various cultural manifestations with which it comes into contact, as well as its ability to integrate new ideas and technologies into its processes, generate urban and landscape programs in which architecture is capable of transcending a defined field.

Organized by MARCO with the curatorship of Tatiana Bilbao Estudio in collaboration with Gonzalo Ortega, the exhibition Perspectives will remain open to the public from Friday, November 10, 2017, to Sunday, February 25, 2018, to be presented subsequently in the Museo Amparo in Puebla, México.
